CONNECTED RESTAURANT WORK

See how one approved purchase affects the work that follows.

An invoice becomes a Purchase Draft for review. Once corrected and explicitly posted, the approved information can update inventory history and source costs used in later costing, count, reorder, and owner review.

The initial release is planned to include the workflows described below.

  1. 01Setup
  2. 02Invoice
  3. 03Review
  4. 04Purchase
  5. 05Inventory & Activity

INVOICE CAPTURE

Capture the invoice. Review what was found. Post when it is right.

An invoice should do more than become a stored document. Venkoi Serve detects details from camera or document input, creates a reviewable Purchase Draft, and keeps the source attached so the restaurant can correct it before explicit posting.

  • Detect invoice details, lines, and totals
  • Connect vendor items to ingredients
  • Review packages and conversions
  • Correct the draft before explicit posting

Detection suggests. The restaurant decides what gets posted.

INVENTORY & TRACEABILITY

See what changed — and why.

Activity answers two questions: what changed, and why? Each movement remains connected to a purchase, receiving event, waste, production, physical count, or manual adjustment when that source exists.

  • Purchases and receiving
  • Waste and production
  • Physical-count adjustments
  • Manual adjustments with source history

PRICES & FOOD COST

Follow supplier prices into preparation and menu cost.

A valid supplier price can become the source cost used for ingredient, preparation, and menu review. Comparisons require enough package and conversion information, and gross profit remains gross profit before labor and overhead.

  • Current and previous comparable supplier price
  • Normalized base-unit cost and source purchase line
  • Preparation batch, yield, and cost per yield unit
  • Plate cost, selling price, food-cost percentage, and gross profit before labor and overhead

Complete, Partial, or Missing costs: if source costs are missing, the product shows the gap instead of inventing precision. Unlike packages are not compared without sufficient conversion data.

PHYSICAL COUNTS & REORDER

Count the operation, review variance, then prepare what to buy.

A count is not just data entry. Enter and resume practical count units, compare expected with counted, review variance, and explicitly post. Below-par items can then be calculated to par using package configuration and grouped by supplier for a shopping list.

  • Search, filter, progress, and resume
  • Transparent count-unit conversions
  • Expected, counted, and variance review
  • Package-aware quantities and a shareable CSV shopping list

0 means counted and found zero; uncounted means not counted yet. The product helps prepare the order; the initial release does not place supplier orders electronically.

OWNER VIEW

Review the signals that need operational attention.

This is where an operator can see what deserves review: recent purchasing, waste, supplier price changes, incomplete costs, count variance, below-par items, inventory value, and recent activity. It does not fill gaps with estimates or present gross profit as net profit.

  • Inventory value and recent purchasing
  • Waste and supplier price changes
  • Preparation, menu, and incomplete cost coverage
  • Below-par items and useful recent activity

DATA SAFETY

Operational data should be recoverable.

Backup, restore, and clean-device recovery are part of the recovery work. Automatic backup is not claimed as currently available.

  • Clean-device recovery validation

PRODUCT EXPERIENCE

Review connected records instead of unrelated totals.

Purchases, inventory movement, Activity, and source costs retain the context that links them, so an operator can follow what came in, what changed, and where a cost originated.

Questions about Venkoi Serve

What is Venkoi Serve?
Venkoi Serve is local-first restaurant inventory and food-cost software for independent restaurants.
Does it automatically post invoices?
No. Detection creates a reviewable draft. The restaurant reviews, corrects, and explicitly posts the purchase.
Can it track supplier price changes?
The launch release compares current and previous prices using normalized base-unit cost and retains the source purchase line. If package conversion data is insufficient, it shows that the comparison is incomplete.
Can it calculate preparation and menu-item cost?
The launch release covers preparation batch and yield cost, plus menu plate cost, food-cost percentage, and gross profit before labor and overhead.
What happens when costs are missing?
The product labels cost coverage as Complete, Partial, or Missing costs. It does not invent precision when source costs are unavailable.
Does it support physical counts?
The launch release includes count units, numeric entry, progress and resume, variance review, and explicit posting. Zero remains different from uncounted.
Does it help with reordering?
Yes. It identifies below-par ingredients and prepares a supplier-grouped, package-aware shopping list. The initial release does not electronically place supplier orders.
Does it connect to POS or accounting systems?
Not in the first release. No integration date is being promised.
What platform is the initial release?
Android. The product is local-first; Web, iOS, and cloud sync are not first-release availability claims.
Is it designed for multi-location chains?
The initial focus is one restaurant and one location, not enterprise multi-location management.
